ARTIST STATEMENT
ShoujoAi.com was developed in response to the lack of yuri/shoujo-ai content available.
The Shoujo-Ai Archive is a site that is dedicated to serving the shoujo-ai anime fan community. The word "shoujo-ai" literally means "girl love", and has been adapted to denote lesbian relationships, frequently in anime and manga.

Thinking of me and my lover |

Throughout the centuries women have been represented in art predominantly through the 'male gaze', or from a man's point of view.
The Sapphosophy Archive hopes to show another perspective, 'the female gaze', or the women's point of view, by publishing lesbian comment on imagery in art, we hope to address the imbalance in art documentation. We welcome your art works. We are interested in women artists and would love to have any news, views and comment. If you would like to contribute please visit our wanted page.
